Cebuano Studies Center Hosts Online Theater Conference to Bring Local Theatric and Dramatic Groups All Over the Visayas Region
into the Spotlight

Last September 1 and 2, in partnership with the Unified Artists of Cebu under the guidance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Cebuano Studies Center held its Zoom conference to give a platform to various Visayan various theater and dramatic arts groups. 

With this year’s theme, “Pundok-Pundok: An Online Theater Conference in the Visayas,” Ruby Avilez of the Unified Artists of Cebu shared his sentiments and provided a detailed account of what the theater organization went through in the 1980s. He expressed his joy and gratitude, seeing that many young people from the new generation continue to embrace the performing arts in theater.

NCCD Regional Coordinator Earnest Hope Tinambacan shared that the conference aimed to bring together the different theater and dramatic arts communities from all over the Visayas Region to build strong bonds and ties among each other.

Cebu’s premier theater and communication company, 2TinCans Philippines along with Bacolod-based theater guild—Dagiaw Experiential Theater introduced their organization to the esteemed guests. The online conference featured more theater and dramatic arts groups, like Colegio San Agustine’s MASK ensemble, Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts (YATTA), Binhi Creatives, Cre8tive Thespians of Cebu Inc. and the Teatro de San Pedro Calungsod, whose plays focus on Catholic values and Bible teachings.
