On September 1, Societatis Lingua Artes (SOLARES) President Remoto teased future activities and events for the first semester of the academic year to the Department of Communication Linguistics and Literature (DCLL) student body at this year’s General Assembly.
An exclusive discussion of the official logo of the Societatis Lingua Artes (SOLARES) commenced the assembly, proceeding to an introduction of the organization’s Executive Committee. The DCLL students got acquainted with the faces of their department’s student leaders, handing insights into what SOLARES has to offer to the entire study body. President Remoto further explained the rules and regulations of SOLARES under the implementation of the Department of Communication Linguistics and Literature (DCLL).
With the academic year officially kicking off, SOLARES revealed sneak-peek activities and events that will be catered for this semester. One of the few is the annual acquaintance party for the academic year. The organization emphasized that they prioritize having the said event within September 2023.
The Pulong sa mga Alagad sa Obra (PALABRA) of the Bachelor of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies with Creative Writing, briefly presented their organization and the new set of officers of the term—along with its radio program project, Dear Tita Mercy that airs on DYRF Radio Fuerza at the University of San Carlos – Downtown Campus.
Celebrating the official launch of their Instagram account, the Society of Language Enthusiasts (SOLE) of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies also shared a little background of what they do, what they have in store for this year, and introduced their newly appointed officers and committee for the academic year. They also presented their SOLE initiative for the Community Extension Service (CES) volunteer program, Creating Opportunities for Personal Enrichment through Storytelling (COPES).
The Carolinian Communication Society (CCS) of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Major in Media discussed slight rebranding of their sub-organization, a quick run-through of what they offer for the student body and its members—Bulawanong Tunob and Stewards of Communication (StewComm), both an initiative for Community Extension Service (CES) volunteer program from the sub-organization. CCS also introduced the set of officers and committees for the academic year.
As announced from this year’s Academic Orientation, HALANGDON—the official student publication of the Department of Communication Linguistics and Literature (DCLL), introduced its Editorial Board members and presented its coined mission and vision.
Department Chair Opina closed the assembly with his grateful remarks for the students’ dedicated and active participation, relaying encouraging words to continue supporting the future activities and events of SOLARES and the entire Department of Communication Linguistics and Literature (DCLL) community.
